Hoover BH50030 This is the greatest hand held vacuum ever!!
Forget all the other small vacuums with cute names. This one actually DOES clean. It does cost more, but the first time you use it you will forget the few extra dollars.
If you are tired of all the little "toy" vacuums get this one and get the job done.
But be careful.......this little rascal will suck the laces out of your shoes!!

My wife is looking for powerful and reliable hand vac.
This one is considered pricey. So far it works well and is doing the job.
However, be aware that dust will still pass and get collected on the back (clean) side of the foam filter, which is considered secondary (final) filter.
Not sure if it is the intended design.

I'm really impressed with this little hand vac. I bought it because I liked to Linx stick vacuum but it couldn't get the furniture. I use this on furniture, stairs, anywhere with small areas, the car. I highly recommend it.
PROS:
* It's cordless (super convenient)
* The powered roller brush really gets the pet hair off
* The battery charges separately from the vacuum so there doesn't need to be an outlet where you store the vac
* Battery keeps it's power until it dies (doesn't gradually lose power as you use it)
* Charges quickly
* Powerful suction
* Works well on stairs
* Comes with other attachments besides the pet roller attachment
* Easy to empty (lots of reviewers found it tricky to get the cup off, but I don't)
* Easy to clean filter (I brush it off outside with a stiff bristle brush)
* Reasonably lightweight
CONS:
* It's pretty loud (I have to wear earplugs when I use it)
* Filter needs cleaning after each use

I have 2 long haired cats and a dog. They sleep on the couch and always leave massive amount of hair behind them so every time you sit down on it you end up looking like you are wearing a fur coat and fur pants. Attractive. Also I live at the beach so there's no avoiding the sand all over everything. Since I got this little beauty (and it's vacuum counterpart so I have 2 interchangeable batteries) it's so easy to just grab it, vacuum down the couch and pillows and it gets it sooooo clean. It's the roller that really does the work, the suction when the roller is not on isn't all that great but I just really need it for some throw rugs and the couch. I am very pleased with this product.

I bought this vacuum (Hoover BH50030 LINX Pet Cordless Hand Vacuum a month ago and have used it several times a week. I have two dogs, one white, one black, both shed horribly. This vacuum effortlessly picks up all the dog hair....the only hand-held that I've ever been happy with. The battery life is plenty long enough to clean all the furniture plus two flights of stairs with lots of power left. If you have pets, this is the vacuum you need!

Hoover BH50030 Fourth time's the charm
This is my fourth hand vacuum in about as many years. The others have been a Black & Decker, Eureka, and Hoover. This Hoover is definitely the best out of the bunch!
Pros:
- Extremely powerful for a cordless vacuum.
- One of the attachments has a brush roller, which really helps in picking up pet hair.
- Uses an interchangeable lithium ion battery, which is handy if you have the Hoover LINX floor vacuum, as you can just swap batteries between the two if one is low on a charge.
-Nice ergonomic handle.
Cons:
- A little on the heavy side.
- By far the most expensive hand vacuum I've ever bought (twice as much as the next most expensive one).
- Dust container is a little hard to get on and off.
Overall, I guess this one of those "you get what you pay for" products. I love it for cleaning stairs and upholstery. Its high cost is mainly due to the lithium ion battery. For those who are not familiar with this battery technology, it's the same kind of battery as found in cell phones. Advantages are that it packs a lot of juice and has no memory effect like the older NiCad batteries. It's expensive but so far worth it.

I never thought I could get excited over a hand vac. Well made, great design, easy to use and powerful - especially for a rechargeable vac.
Hoover BH50030 Vacuum VERY GOOD.
Pros: Suction is very good.
Rotary brush works well especially with pet hair (actually better than pet hair attachment)
Lightwight and comfortable.
Collection cannister is easy to remove and clean.
Battery life is very good.
Battery is interchangeable with 2 other Hoover units.
Attachements are easy to remove.

I checked out the Dyson hand vacuum pet model DC31 and tried it out at Bed Bath & Beyond. I chose the Hoover Linx and it is far superior. In all aspects, the suction is better, there is an indicator of how much power you have left and it lasts lingered and it is better balanced in your hand. The pet hair comes of the furniture in a breeze with the rotating brush attachment. I don't care about price, I've learned long ago that it costs less to get the best, but it sure is nice that this vac is $150 less than it's competitor. The quality of the unit is first rate: superior plastics and good fit and finish. The thing looks like it may have been designed by Porsche. Can recommend it highly!

Hoover BH50030 Powerful tool in battle against pet hair!
I am really impressed with Hoover's new cordless Linx handheld vacuum. We have 3 dogs in our home: 2 chocolate labs and one yellow lab. The yellow lab sheds three times as much fur as the two chocolates combined. You cannot sit down on our sofas without getting fur all over you. And while we have a great upright vacuum, it is huge and not good for when you want just a quick pick up. I've been looking for a cordless handheld for a while. I almost caved in to getting a Dyson, and I am so glad I held out!
Pros:
* 18 volt Lithium-ion battery that doesn't fade (runs at full power until dead). My Black & Decker chain saw, drill and edger all use 18 volt batteries to power them. This little vacuum has some serious power!
* Most vacuums have handheld brush attachments that are powered only by the suction of the vacuum. This bad boy is actually motorized and is great at picking up fur!
* The Hoover Platinum Collection Cordless Pet Hand Vacuum also comes with a limited six year warranty on the vacuum, limited two year warranty on the battery and charger.
* I have to disagree with the other reviewer who did not like having to take battery out to charge it in the charging stand. I for one love this! It is so much nicer to have a small charging stand that the battery slides into that can takes up such little space. If it used a stand that the whole vac plugs into, it would have to stay out always. Now, it gets put up and on the battery stays out (and is next to my B&D charging stations).
* Emptying this vacuum is simple and clean. Some bag less vacuums aren't designed intelligently and end up making a huge mess when you try to empty their canisters. The Hoover cordless was definitely well thought out!
Cons:
The price is still a bit high, but this is definitely a better value than the Dyson handhelds. I do own a few handhelds that are not cordless, and this cordless blows them away!
Would I recommend this handheld cordless vacuum? Definitely!

Hoover BH50030 Power brush completes this nicely.
The power brush is a real necessity for this hand vac. I have the older model and ordered the power brush and the improved dirt cup and prefilter insert. The newer one allows better air flow. I now cut a circle of used dryer sheet to cover the sponge filter to catch larger debris since this can be messy to clean the filter otherwise. The cone-shaped prefilter allows more dirt to cling to the filter but the used dryer sheet can be peeled away when the vac needs emptying. There is no need to affix it in any way, it will stay on when it's inserted in the cone.
The dirt cup has been improved also, it's been molded so that one can get a better grip on it when it's time to empty. It still requires a firm grip to get the cup off but that's necessary for a good leak-resistant seal.
The other attachments include a dusting brush and an upholstery tool with plastic ridges designed to rub pet hair into a ball where the suction can remove it. I needed nothing more than the power brush and the improved air flow that the cone prefilter allows.
The issue with the swing-up attachment seems to have been addressed as
well. It feels more sturdy than the arrangement on the earlier model. You won't need a rubber band to hold it in place!
If you had been holding out for something better based on the reviews, now's the time to spring for it, this is a definite improvement over the original. I do NOT work for Hoover!

We purchased this vacuum right before the holidays, when we knew there would be ample opportunity for us to put it to use with all of our company. We had been debating about purchasing a Dyson handheld, but could not quite get over the price of those machines. This Hoover product, while relatively expensive for a handheld vac, has exceeded all of our expectations. It is VERY powerful, doing a great job even on the stubborn dog hair on our couch. The attachments are very useful and we have found that it holds its battery charge well. I appreciate that it runs at full speed until the battery dies, no waning performance toward the end of the charge. It is easy to clean out the filter and empty the dirt collected right into the trash. If you are looking for a handheld vac with great power, performance, and one that seems to have staying power, this is the way to go!

As an owner of the same Hoover brand LINX model stick vacuum (which is also excellent), I had no problem buying this hand model when my old B&D bit the dust due to a no-longer-rechargeable built-in NiCd battery. The removable,18 volt Lithium battery power packs in these vacuums are great. Long run time, lots of power and quick to charge in their separate charger. You can buy additional batteries also. The two main problems with other hand vacuums is a built-in, non-replaceable battery and lack of power/run-time. All of these issues are solved with this Hoover LINX vacuum. The 18 volts is really strong.
This hand vacuum "does the job" with or without the rotating brush head. My wife used it on the carpeted stairs using the brush head and was impressed by the job it did. It has her 5 star approval.
Buy this model as it has the rotating brush pet head as well as a standard nozzle. Note:( NOT for direct on-pet use)
